Asymmetry
Before I go to bed each night, I pray. I pray that I will wake up with a symmetrical face. Because with me you can't tell. Like everybody else, I have pretty days, not-so-pretty days, absolutely ugly days.
I was told that I have lovely Japanese eyes. Which technically means oriental eyes. Yes, almond shaped oriental eyes. But the problem is that they are asymmetrical, the right one is larger with a deeper cease as double eyelid. The left one is not only smaller but also has a weaker cease. So weak that it will disappear on days when I had too much water and alcohol. And that's when my sister asked if I am the evil twin. So that explains why I need to pray every night before I sleep, that I will wake up as the angelic twin.
Recently, maybe because I am growing older, the body is more prone to retaining fluids (and fats too)or because God is too busy answering other requests that he missed me out, my already ugly eye gets uglier. And this frustrates me a lot. And it makes me really sensitive to people looking at my way. Gosh, that's an ugly eye. Pity the girl who has to bear with it. And the eye that lives next to it. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am contemplating surgery to remove my eyes. Er, maybe not. Just deepen the cease in the left eye lid.
I am not a big fan of cosmetic surgery, neither do I repel it. If it is needed to look and feel good, why not? Having said that, I never thought of doing anything cosmetic to my face until of course the recent adventure of the missing double eyelid. In fact the only form of cosmetic surgery that I every thought of is liposuction. It is like you go to bed and wake up slim. How nice.
My ugliness bothers my mama so much that she is offering to pay for the adjustment of the cease. I heard you. Yah so I took it up and promptly made a call to one of best surgeon on the island to make an appointment. Best surgeon = double the price, + mama paying = ok , go ahead, book.
Hi, good afternoon, The cosmetic surgery clinic. How can I assist you? Really chirpy voice, I supposed if you charge double the price you can afford to pay good money to your receptionist and they will be happy and then chirpy. Good sign.
I want to be pretty for 2 weddings in Dec, before Christmas.
Sure. Still chirpy.
I need a deeper cease on my left eyelid. Me really hopeful.
Did you say Dec? Doc is fully booked till Dec. And I would not advice you to go for it then if you want to look good by Christmas. There is not enough healing time.
So I won't get to look good by Christmas? Me in disbelief.
Yes, because it will take a month to heal and 2 month to look fantastic.
How do the rest of people face the world when they do er, corrective works to their face?
Oh, they usually wear sunglasses. So that explains why my neighbour had been wearing really huge gucci sunglasses for the last 3 weeks. Damn she is in time to look good for Christmas while I am not.
So mdm, do I still put you down on the waiting list?
Yes, please.
I guess if i can't look good for Christmas, I can for Chinese New Year.

well, I hear you on the plastic surgery bit.. for the most part of my childhood I went longing to have plastic surgery to reduce the size of my lips. yes, that's it -- they're just too damn big! or atleast i thought, until people started giving me compliments for 'angelina' lips (probably at the time my face grew into my lips). okay, now i can't really give a damn, and my mama ain't certainly gonna pay for it, so whattcanyado?? but, darlin, those eyes of yours are fab, i (cross my fingers and jump twice) have never noticed anything but adorable uniqueness from your face, and that's what we can all hope for ourselves right? who wants to look like a damn barbie anyways??
here's lookin at you kid:)
Well, for now I am keeping my eyes. Till the day that I am frustrated enough to call the Doc again.
